It was established in the year 2001, Chiragh society works in the area of child rights, child protection and, Education & Literacy and also in the held of minority development, Environment etc. The organization works towards the promotion of sustainable development. The organization operates in Uttar Pradesh India

History
CHIRAGH Society at a Glance:-
It is a matter of 1995 era when I (ZAFAR ALAM) was quite young and got an opportunity by Pulse Polio campaign to serve the marginalized community of Firozabad Slums. During my tenure, I had observed that there are no basic facilities of schools, roads, health centers, drains and sewers. There was a huge problem of health issues like diarrhea, tuberculosis, malnutrition, polio, etc. due to waterlogged and piles of garbage were gathered place to place in slums, while people were also facing the shortage of drinking water. I was so depressed to see the living condition of this uneducated society and their malnourished children, anemic girls, and innocent women being forced to live their lives between four walls of home under the purdah system. I started getting worried about this underprivileged Society how to help them? Or what we can do so that this underprivileged community links with the mainstream. How can we create awareness in this community to change their living standard?
Then we decided to work for the social and economic upliftment of this vulnerable community through Nonprofit Organization, But we have also observed that these innocent people have kept in the trap of moneylenders, “SATTA MAFIA” and the local suppliers of SMACK & CHARAS. The hand of these mafias was very long and no one from the community was ready to speak raise their voice against and the fear of these MAFIA’s was prevalent in the uneducated society. When I decided to stand up against them because of this my friends also left me. My father Late Mr. Mohammad Saleem and some other family members encouraged me to go ahead because these innocent peoples were in darkness and we made our aim to change this darkness into light through Sustainable Solutions. My loving younger brother Late Farhat Alam proposed to us the name for our Not-for-Profit Organization which will be called the name of “CHIRAGH SOCIETY” because it reflects the light. We didn’t have any expertise or experience, but we have zeal, passion, and motivation to bring social change.
Chiragh's Vision
CHIRAGH’S vision is just a society in which men, women and children are equal. We believe that each and every person- irrespective of their sex, age, caste, class and religion should have a life of freedom and dignity in which they enjoy all their rights and have the opportunity to fully develop their potentials.
In pursuit of this vision, Chiragh Society works for vulnerable sections of society facing inequality and injustice to help them. We aim to strengthen ties in the local community so that people can work together to bring about positive changes in their lives. We particularly encourage women and children to participate in this process, as they are the most marginalized and powerless social group in our country. Chiragh Society gives them the opportunity to develop their decision-making skills and leadership capacity so that they can address the issues affecting their lives. Playing the role of catalysts, we help to implement sustainable development processes that will make communities self-sufficient in the long term.
